Statement on Building Redevelopment

Update: May 2025

CentreVenture Development Corporation is supporting the first phase of a heritage rehabilitation study at Holy Trinity, which is a National Historic Site (1990), and a municipally- designated heritage site. A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed by the Parish of Holy Trinity, the Diocese of Rupert’s Land, CentreVenture Development Corporation, and Monteyne Architecture to undertake a feasibility study required to stabilize and restore the building.

The Corporation and Vestry of Holy Trinity Anglican Church are actively considering options for the redevelopment of the church building and grounds. This is a process which is inevitably slow-moving as these bodies strive to act with deep care regarding the property which we have been charged to steward. Because of the many moving pieces in such large-scale building redevelopments, the parish can only share the following pieces at the current time:

  • No agreements with any party have been signed at this time.
  • There are and have at no point been any plans to have the building demolished.
  • The property is not yet on the market for the purposes of selling it.

Any redevelopment projects and/or potential sale of the property will take into consideration all of the following:

  • The prioritization of maintaining worship space in the downtown core;
  • The broader impacts on community partners including Holy Trinity’s current tenants
  • The tenets of treaty obligation and reconciliation
  • The needs of the downtown community
  • The conditions for sale stipulated by the Diocese of Rupert’s Land.
