Anti-2SLGBTQ+ rhetoric and activities are rising in Canada. There are rallies planned across Canada on Wednesday, 20 September, by many groups pushing for broader acceptance of anti-2SLGBTQ+ ideas and legislation. There are five such rallies planned in Manitoba, including in Winnipeg.
Christ's call to his followers is one of radical welcome, care, and hospitality. (John 13.34; Romans 12.15-18; Galatians 3.28; Philippians 2.3-4; Colossians 1.16-17; Revelation 7.9-10) As an alternative to messages of exclusion and rejection, this time and space are offered for prayer, reflection, sacramental ministry, and care of all in need.
Beginning at 11:00 am with prayer and reading of scripture, the church will be open for individual prayer and reflection. Anointing and prayers for healing will be available during this hour. At 12:10 pm a liturgy of Holy Eucharist will conclude the gathering.
All people of goodwill are welcome.
