Supporting the Future of Holy Trinity Church

In March 2026, Holy Trinity Anglican Church appointed Dr. Stephen Borys, President and CEO of Civic Muse Inc., as Building Program Manager to help guide the next chapter in the life of one of Winnipeg's most significant historic buildings.

The role was established to coordinate the planning and partnerships needed to support the church's long-term future. Working closely with church leadership, CentreVenture, consultants, funders, and community partners, the Building Program Manager oversees the planning process, coordinates research and technical studies, and helps communicate progress to parishioners, stakeholders, and the broader community.

This work extends well beyond the building itself. Holy Trinity has served downtown Winnipeg for more than 135 years as a place of worship, community gathering, music, outreach, and service. The Building Program seeks to ensure that this remarkable heritage continues for future generations while exploring opportunities that will strengthen the church's mission and sustainability.

The Building Program is organized in phases. Phase I focused on understanding the current condition of the church through a comprehensive engineering and heritage assessment. Phase II, now underway, is centred on community consultation, stakeholder engagement, and the exploration of preliminary adaptive reuse concepts that will help inform future decisions. Throughout this process, transparency, collaboration, and thoughtful planning remain central principles. Parish members, neighbours, community organizations, government partners, and heritage specialists all have an important role to play in shaping the future of Holy Trinity Church.

Regular updates will be posted on this website as work progresses. We encourage everyone with an interest in Holy Trinity to follow the project, participate in upcoming engagement opportunities, and help imagine a future that honours the church's remarkable history while preparing it for generations to come.
